"Death Punch Means Cadaver" was recorded as a demo in 2000. Divided was a hardcore punk band from Berlin / Germany and was active from 1999 until 2002. After Sebastian and Grobi had jammed a few times at Bülow 54's rehearsal basement, Sebastian recruited housemate Stefan who he heard singing along to his stereo at Tommy Weissbecker Haus. Grobi's housemate Wielki joined as well and Divided was complete. Divided's lyrics were mostly in German plus a couple of songs with English lyrics. They played numerous gigs in Berlin and in a few other cities as well (eg Dresden, Hamburg, Neu-Brandenburg, Rostock, Flensburg). The 'Semtex' basement bar in the Kreutziger Strasse in Berlin / Friedrichshain quickly evolved to their favourite gig location. After founding member Wielki left the band, Rotzi replaced him on bass guitar. By that time, the band had moved their rehearsal rooms from Bülowstr. 54 to Tommy Haus. After a few pissed gigs, Rotzi left and Massimo had a go at it but it somehow did not work out so eventually Grobi swapped the drumsticks with the bass guitar and Iffi played drums for a while until the band broke up because vocalist Stefan refused to have a shower for three months or so. Well, the reasons for the break up were probably of a different nature but Stefan was 100% nature, too. Anyway, this also describes best Divided's sound: Dirty, stinking Berlin hardcore punk.

Car troubles were a constant issue for the band as no band member owned a car and organizational skills of Divided were still in developmental stage. For a certain gig in Dresden, the band managed to organise a van around 8 pm on the night of the gig and rocked up slightly belated (Goofy saved the day). A planned 3 day Poland tour organised by Atom fell through when the borrowed van broke down on the Autobahn to Frankfurt / Oder.

Shortly after the band had agreed on the band name, it became apparent that fashion chain store H&M had introduced their own store label named Divided. This meant that the band did not have to print their own shirts as no one could be bothered anyway and thousands of unsuspecting Divided fans roamed the streets of Berlin. Or so they say.
