This song is about the implications of settler colonialism - a history that should not be celebrated. The colonisation of Australia was only possible due to the then prevailing white supremacist attitudes of Mother England and the rest of Western Europe. History needs to be known, history is important, history is bloody interesting but celebrating any aspects of (Australian) settler colonialism is each time a slap in the face of indigenous Australia and as such just wrong. The Brits' attitudes were more or less the same attitudes that the Nazis incorporated to make up their fucked up view of the world to legitimise war, colonisation and eventually attempted genocide by way of mass murder. The British colonisers never built extermination camps but the logic of conquest and accompanied killings of indigenous people where the 'value' of supposedly different types of human beings is weighed up for political expediency appears to be in hindsight very closely related.
